ARC – UNSW Student Life is responsible for directing student life here at UNSW. It is run by a board of directors, the majority of which are students. Voting is now open for four Student Director positions, and will close at 9pm this Thursday 10th of April.
The four student director positions are a part of 15 spots on the Board of Directors. Ultimately, the team is responsible for any matter which relates to the running of Arc. Rather than managing Arc, the board of directors govern the organisation.
The election email you would have been sent this morning is in regards to the four Student Director positions on the Arc Board. Once elected, directors will commence in June 2025, and continue their term of office for two years.
Two of the positions must be filled by gender diverse students or women, whereas the other two are unrestricted.
There are a total of 19 UNSW students who have applied to be on the board. Their individual statements are on the voting ballot.
To vote, simply follow the link that UNSW emailed you this morning – subject line: VOTING LINK – Arc@UNSW Board Elections 2025.
The link will take you to the ballot, on which you can see all the candidates names and their accompanying statements. You may click on the small boxes next to each name, to vote. You can vote for as many as you would like – all 19, just 1, or anything in between. The vote will go from most to least preferred.
Finish voting by clicking the confirm page button at the bottom, and then “submit vote”.
The other eleven spots on the Board of Directors are filled by: the Chief Executive Officer (Shelley Valentine), the SRC President (Diya Sengupta), the President of Postgraduate Council (Ada Choi), two alumni directors (John Reed and Sarah Smart), two UNSW directors (Jonathon Strauss and Amelia Anderberg), as well as the four other student directors who already have secured their spots.
Voting is not compulsory for UNSW students.
